Are You Struggling to Get Results?

Often peoples expectations of what they need to do to achieve their desired results are under estimated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not intentional nor through lack of want, motivation or desire - but because of a lack of knowledge of what it takes to actually attain said goal.

More often than not:

  • Those that think they are doing enough to be in a DEFICIT are generally doing enough to MAINTAIN.

  • Those that are doing enough to MAINTAIN are generally doing enough to be in a controlled SURPLUS.

  • Those that think they are doing enough to be GROW MUSCLE in a surplus are usually doing enough to put on mainly fat and little muscle in a 'DIRTY' SURPLUS.

Why? Because losing weight / body fat is hard work! Especially as you get closer to your goal weight. You might have got away with more flexibility at the beginning when you had more to lose, but as your body gets closer to being pushed somewhere it simply doesn't want to go you have to work that much harder for it.

Check out the below expectations vs reality for actually being in a deficit:

The same for maintenance - once people have hit their desired weight they think that maintaining it takes little diligence and hard work but the reality is you still have to be diligent and mindful for 80%+ of the time. This is why people often find it so hard to maintain, because what they think they are doing enough to achieve it is actually more of a controlled surplus instead whereby weight loss is increasing but at a very slow pace:

And you think putting on muscle means you can eat whatever you want?! Think again ...if you want to limit putting on fat as much as possible and really optimise muscle gain you need to be as diligent as being in a deficit. Yes - you may have a little more flexibility and freedom around meals out and food eaten - but the same still applies.

The simple fact is, if you are not getting the desired results 9 times out of 10 it’s because you are not doing enough to get yourself there, and I say that as kindly as I can. Knowledge really is power! So if you’ve been struggling and thinking ‘your body just can’t do it’ - it’s time to reassess!

  • Losing body fat is HARD WORK and takes significant compromises to get there. The body doesn't want to do it.

  • Putting on muscle is HARD WORK. The body has to work hard to achieve it.

  • Putting on fat is relatively EASY. The body doesn't need much to start storing.

If you are not getting where you want it may simply be you are not putting in the CORRECT work to get you there. Not that you 'just can't'.
